Hands Dirtying Act

And here we thought that Najib is on swell terms with Goldman Sachs.

Maybe there is a pouting moment here, what’s with the whole controversy swirling around 1MDB and Goldman Sachs' role.

Anyway, I digress.

This is in relation to the supposed reactivation of govt equity investment firm , Valuecap, “to shore up the country's stock market”.

The amount – while certainly more than, urm, RM2.6 b – is pretty small when compared to the money pumped by the Chinese government to “prop up (its) plunging stock market.”

Of, course China’s equity market have tumbled like an unstable pack of cards line atop each other to start with.

Didn’t do much help and the bigger fear would then what if the government then decides to stop hoarding and pull out.

Our stock market have seen better days, but as is forever the economic cycle, there will be bulls and there will be bears.

So why the RM20b injection?

And where is this fund coming from?

Why the selected stocks and who decides?

At what point which Valuecap stop, urm, propping and starts selling again to recoup?

Or is there going to be no recoup?

Can Najib simply, simply take RM20b from the national coffers to pump into the share market which is supposed to be market driven without the Parliament's okay?

RM20b is not exactly peanuts and last generations.

Why is the govt getting its hand dirty again with such a commercialized move? Doesn’t 1MDB provide any experience on the folly of doing so?

Or are we missing a bigger picture here?

Not us, of course.

Bearish Run of a Different Kind, We Pray Not

We’re sure turning out like a black hole.

Or a stacked line of domino tiles.

A gambler dealt with consecutive bad decks of cards.

Whatever its, the country is starting to look like it’s on a run to prove the Murphy’s Law.

Should be at least a wee bit cagey, right now.

Especially since 16 September is around the corner with a supposed maruah-trampled bunch going all Gung Ho to amass, and on very suspect principles.

Let not the stroke of the pendulum be already upon our bosom.

One bad after another.

And we know full well what is at its core.

Moral corruption. Of the highest degree.

Egoistical flames and fathomless greed that could tear all asunder.

Na'uzubillah.

Freaky, Creaky Nervy Journey

Creaking and swaying the ride whizzes
Foliage and landscape mere blurry scenes
Pelting rubbles to kids, semi naked, playing chicken
Their loud hollers mere whiff of a passing drone

Cramp cabins for the moneyed none’s
While luscious lovelies service the flusher ones
For the many meanwhile knee space is plenty
Though the leather’s worn, the nooks and cranny nasty

Oh just who is it who’s driving this train?
On weathered track unscheduled distant
At speeds between sombre and utter disdain
As worrisome passengers sing a hallow refrain

The journey’s brochure flutters, hitching an open window
Stories of days gone past, of memories rendered hollow
Nobody gives a damn, it’s an old, old fare
Burgeoning difficulty; to extract, to cajole, to care

Where does this journey ends, a whispering spread
When do we stop, a worry, the mounting dread
Is the engineer sound, does he have the creed
Why does it seem that we’re picking up speed?

Why does it seem like we’re a mare, a bleeping steed?
Cantering around like a harried, puffed up breed
Its rider aloft, in drunken fit, his conscience freed
Cheered on by a crowd, of supposed bourgeois creed

Why does it seem that its dizzying speed we’re picking?
When the horizon, distance shrinking, is fast approaching?

Just who is driving us in this unnerving journey?

Remiss of Decadence*

* Title with thanks to John Carroll - Sceptical Sociology (2014)

These words sum it all up why the morally bankrupt leaders we have right now must go.

Otherwise, we will become a turtle of a nation.

Nay,. A snail of a nation.

Stark naked without the brittle shell of self-developed support.

And yes. Stop bleeping bringing in Islam into the issues at hand.

Don’t risk God’s wrath for the sake of one man and his coterie of cahoots with such brazen spin.

Thomas  Couture -
Romains de la Decadence (Romans of the Decadence) (1847)
